October 2023: Coaching News

OFF SEASON 2023

By Paul Grundy, Coaching Director

What a great year of Football! I hope you all enjoyed your 2023 season and achieved your goals - whether that was improving your skills, bringing home a trophy or bonding with your teammates.

We had a fantastic turnout at our MiniRoos and Juniors Presentation Days, it was a great way to end the season plus recognise the success of many teams but more importantly, the hard work done by all our volunteers and coaches - we thank you all very much for your contributions, we could not function without you!

Work is already well underway to prepare for the 2024 season, now that the season has finished for all but two teams (U18X and G16 are through to the Semi-Finals of Champion of Champions). This news update is the first of a regular series where we hope to keep you better informed on what is happening across all areas of coaching at LFC.

I hope you find this update useful. If you have any questions on the content, be sure to contact your 2024 Age Coordinator or feel free to reach out to me at coaching@lindfieldfc.com.au.

Our New Coaching Team

I am sure that you have heard that Chris Deblaere, our Technical Director, decided to step down at the end of this season, so we have been busy over the last few months looking at how we operate and what we can do to improve.

I am pleased to report that we have completed this process and have our new Coaching Leadership team now in place. We have elected not to recruit a new Technical Director but instead share the responsibilities across our Head Coaches.

This will enable us to spend more time developing and supporting our coaches, on the field, and invest more energy in developing our programs (for all teams)

Contact details for our new coaching team are below. Please feel free to contact them if you have any questions. In the coming months, we will share more insights from each of our coaches.

Our Strategy

We have consulted with a variety of people across the club and based on this feedback, our priorities for the coming years are as follows:

  • Coach Development - in the face of increasing competition and demand for coaches, LFC will have a stronger focus on growing and supporting our coaches from within the club

  • Player Centred - we will continue to embed in our coaching a focus on the player, beyond the technical and tactical elements - focusing on elements such as team culture, growth mindset etc

  • More Opportunities for Development - we will provide more opportunities for players of all skill levels to develop their core skills

  • Communication and Transparency - we will provide more frequent communication to all members on what we are planning, why plus provide updates on our progress

Launching the LFC Skills Academy

In September, we launched our brand new LFC Skills Academy. As part of our new strategy, we have elected to bring our core coaching in-house (so we are no longer partnering with Peak). Holiday Camps and the Preschool program are provided in conjunction with Brendan Dalton’s Evergreen Soccer, the first which successfully ran in the September holiday break.

The off season Skills Academy program has been running for a few weeks now, and the feedback from the 50+ player who have attended this program has been great. They are all enjoying honing their skills, ready for November trials in the small group sessions with their favourite coaches on the brand new LSC court surface. You can read all about the Skills Academy on the website and you can still sign up for the last 4 weeks before trials.

In 2024 we plan to offer a wide range of programs through this top class LFC Skills Academy, make sure you keep an eye out for more details.

The LFC Mini Maltidas Program

What a World Cup!!

The interest that the event created in football in Australia & Women’s football in particular, has been enormous. Hoping for this, we planned a Mini Matilda’s Program in term 4 for girls new to football. The sign-up for this program has been outstanding, with almost 100 girls signed-up. There are just half a dozen spots left, so if you know any beginner girls, aged 7-12 years, who’d like to come and try football for FREE, send them these details.

We hope that they all have a fun first experience with football and we look forward to welcoming them into the club next season.

LFC Grading Trial Dates

LFC November Grading Trial Dates have now been confirmed - Sign UP via Team Grader today!

Note: Grading Trials are for ALL teams with assigned LFC Coaches - we will NOT be running any further selection trials for any coached/development teams in February (except U6/7).

MAA Prems and Div 2 most likely be held in early 2024 once a coach has been appointed.

G8/9/10: 1-2 dev teams in each age group - Sat 11th & Sat 18th November

Due to some changes in the NSFA Diamond League structure for 2024, we will communicate more information on the team selections closer to the trials.

We are Hiring!

Please register your interest to coach with Lindfield FC in 2024 by filling out the below form!

We are looking for coaches of all levels of experience to join our team.   Opportunities are across all junior age groups from G/U6-G/U18, Mens and Womens All Age, as well as our Overs Teams during the 2024 season.

Coaches will be matched to teams (social squads and/or development teams) based on their level of experience.

At LFC our focus is on coach development so you will be joining a team where you will be trained, supported and assisted to get the most out of your coaching - LFC also offer good rates of pay :-)
