GREAT NEWS!  Signs are hopeful for a return to football

NSFA have released a tentative draw with a start date of June for juniors, followed by the seniors a few weeks later. Any dates given are indicative only as FNSW plans must meet all Government Regulations and receive final approval plus Councils must open the grounds. However, it looks promising.
In order to provide you with as close to normal lenght season as is possible, the NSFA are working hard with councils and summer sports bodies to extend the season and allow additional midweek games.

There will be many changes to deal with, so please be patient and keep an eye on communications. As a guide, Covid will affect things such as: number of players on a field, spectators allowed, staggered start times, length and number of training sessions, on field etiquette etc. As details are clarified, we will advise you of their impact.

Please note: The NSFA continue to work closely with FNSW and FFA to ensure that any return will be done within Covid Guidelines and in the safest manner possible given current information.

IN-DEPTH with Tom Greeley

Tom Greely.jpeg

Position:  Head of Super League
LFC Club member since:  I joined LFC when I was 4 playing up a year in the U6’s.
First Club: Lindfield Football Club
Favourite Position:  Centre Back
Least Favourite Position:  Goalkeeper
Shirt Number:  37
Champion moment: I vividly remember playing for school, Newington v Riverview. Playing left back I received the ball at halfway and saw the keeper off his line, leaning back very David Beckham like, I leathered the ball in the top right of the goal. This was one of my very few goals which I’ll never forget.
Own Goal moment: It May not be an own goal per say, although I have had my fair share of those. It was in U12s playing Bankstown Lions, the crucial penalty in the grand final and I stepped up to take the 5th, missing would subsequently mean losing and scoring would take it through to the next round. Rule number one: head over the ball taking penalties... leaning back I ran up to the ball and hit it so high it flew well beyond the stadium. The most regrettable moment in my career to date.

Favourite Club: Huddersfield Town
Favourite International Team:  England
Favourite Current Footballer:  Victor Lindelof
Best Footballer in the World Ever:  Lionel Messi

All Time Favourite Football Moment: Being an avid football supporter there are many moments that have taken my breath. But the most memorable would have in the 2018 World Cup Quarter Final, Uruguay v France. Benjamin Pavard’s half volley was struck and timed to perfection.  It is my all-time personal favourite build up play and execution.

Most Captivating Game ever Watched: Champions League 2019 Second leg Liverpool v Barcelona. This was one of the most exciting matches I’ve watched considering the aggregated score line. Liverpool coming back to win with 4 goals, the creativity and determination displayed by Liverpool was phenomenal. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ingenious corner is something I will always consider as the best set play ever witnessed.
